ANIMAL RESCUE WORK

RubyI've always had an affinity to animals. My Grandfather, Henry Sharlow, was a Chippewa Indian. He always told me it was my "Medicine Roots" which made me love animals with such a passion. No animal was ever frightened of me, but always came to me instead. I never felt as though animals were property or things that could be thrown away. I always felt a bond to them. They were little fur covered people with souls. Beings that felt Love, Pain, Frustration and made decisions as we do. And as a human being, I had a right and responsibility to speak for those who could not speak for themselves. I started rescuing animals when I was 10 years old. My Aunt and I had a colony of feral cats in out neighborhood that kept reproducing. So, one by one, we would capture, spay or neuter and adopt these cats to loving homes. Now, I have a home of my own and do High volume rescue and adoption. I take all kinds, but really love special needs animals. I work with a very wonderful rescue called "Saint Francis of Assisi Animal Rescue" out of Forest Lake, Minnesota.

My own "Kids" consist of my Five Cats, Pippen, Gotham, Sophia, Chaz and Demon. My Two dogs, Ruby a French Mastiff and Riley a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. And my two rats, Grimsley and Cheney.
